Modular, collapsable rearprojection- screens make up a whole comic-scenery for the childrens opera „Hänsel und Gretel“ that has been played all over Berlin for two seasons. The four different hand-drawn comic scene's are animated and interactive in certain scenes of the play-giving the illusion that a milk pot falls from the cupboard, raspberries can be picked from a bush, angels are flying through a dreamscape forest, real pretzels are picked from the witches house and finally the witch is burned with a big explosion in her own oven. The graphic style of the stage design complements the classic tale and opera score, giving the children the chance to adapt to the quite advanced opera experience through a familiar contemporary visual language.
